This will be the third attempt at creating a television series based on the world of Cruel Intentions (1999)
Scenario
After a traumatic incident at their elite college, half-siblings Caroline and Lucien decide to preserve their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel Cruel Intentions 2 (2000), with Amy Adams replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar in the role of Kathryn Merteuil, was originally a scripted television series before being re-edited into a feature film. Gellar later reprised her role as Kathryn in 2016 for the NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to a series.
Who threw it?
It follows Cruel Intentions (1999). Lucien looks like a twelve-year-old Muppet. There is no way any 20-year-old would find him attractive or irresistible.
He is downright unbearable
The girl playing the vice president’s daughter is not very convincing. Terrible acting. Terrible writing.
Maybe then it would appeal to younger audiences without comparing it to the movie
Terrible casting. I think they shouldn’t have called it “Cruel Intentions.” Or you could have used the names of the characters from the movie. None of these actors can hold a candle to Sarah Michelle Geller, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon or Selma Blair.
